Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Supreme Court (TS), Joel Leonardo, asked, Wednesday, in the municipality of Soyo, province of Zaire, for greater speed in the judicial resolution of cases related to divorce requests.
Speaking to the press, the also president of the Superior Council for the Judiciary (CSMJ) said that there are many complaints from citizens who, for various reasons, resort to the courts to request the end of the marital relationship.
He drew attention to judicial magistrates, in order to give swift treatment to cases of this kind, as he considered them sensitive to the lives of many citizens.
According to the president of the TS, when the courts take time to resolve these matters, in some cases, the interested parties give up on formalizing another relationship, due to the court’s inability to resolve the previous pending issue.
“We have to be quicker in dealing with divorce proceedings, in order to avoid destabilizing family structures”, he stressed.
Joel Leonardo, on the other hand, asked for greater reflection, responsibility and serenity in the handling of processes on the exercise of paternity regulation.
He said there was dissatisfaction with the unequal treatment of these cases, where parents with a considerable number of children, in an active relationship, withdrew 90 percent of their salaries in favor of a family in a previous relationship, by court order.
“It is necessary to protect the interest of minors with common parents, creating a balance in the provision of maintenance and other conditions that contribute to the survival of the children”, he advised.
He informed that the Superior Council of the Judiciary is considering appointing experienced professionals to deal with family conflicts and marital relations, after their training in this matter.
The President of the Supreme Court has been carrying out, since Tuesday, August 29, a three-day working visit to Zaire, where he is X-raying the functioning of his institution’s structures in the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo, Nzeto and Soyo.
