Turkey Commends João Lourenço on African Business Mobilization

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço, as the African Union chairperson, mobilized more than 100 companies from the continent to participate in the 13th International Forum on Industrial Cooperation, which opened on Wednesday in Istanbul, Turkey. This initiative was praised by the Turkish Minister of Trade, Omer Bolat.

According to a press release from the Angolan embassy in Turkey, during the event’s opening ceremony, the Minister highlighted João Lourenço’s efforts to attract companies from several African countries interested in strengthening cooperation with Turkey.

According to the press release, the event closes this Thursday (Aug 14), with Angola represented by its ambassador to Turkey, João Salvador dos Santos Neto.

The Angolan diplomat expressed Angola’s interest in strengthening economic cooperation with the Eurasian country, at an event designed to encourage new Turkish companies to invest in Angola.

The statement emphasizes that the trade balance between Turkey and Africa in 2024 is estimated at US$62 billion, representing 10% growth compared to 2023.

In the first quarter of this year, Turkey recorded US$40 billion in exports of services and manufactured goods, representing growth of approximately 4.2% compared to 2024.
