Africa-Press – Angola. The United Kingdom Embassy in Angola officially launched, on Thursday (11), the “Chevening scholarship program”, in the province of Malanje.
Created nearly 50 years ago and available in over 160 countries, Chevening scholarships offer postgraduate and doctoral opportunities in the United Kingdom, providing access to all British universities for many young people, including members of government.
At the launch ceremony, the UK Ambassador to Angola, Bharat Joshi, said that 16 fully funded scholarships are available for Angolan citizens in the current year, as part of the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
In turn, the Governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative, which will strengthen education and the ties of friendship and cooperation between Angola and UK.
The official emphasized the importance of education as the foundation for the social, economic, and cultural progress of citizens, and therefore urged young people to apply, considering it an opportunity for academic and personal growth, in addition to contributing to the country’s development upon their return.
Meanwhile, Monteiro Dala, a citizen who graduated in business administration in the United Kingdom through the Chevening program, considered the country’s education system excellent, as it fully prepares individuals for life’s challenges.
Online applications goes from Setp 10 to Oct 6 of the current year, with classes beginning next year’s Oct. In Angola, the program has already provided 98 Master’s degree scholarships.
