Africa-Press – Angola. Increasing the number of deputies in the National Assembly is one of UNITA’s priorities for the next General Elections, scheduled for 2027, the party leader said.

Adalberto Costa Júnior revealed the goal in the province of Huambo, when he gave the opening speech at the National Conference of the United Revolutionary Youth of Angola (JURA) on Sunday.

This goal, the leader of the largest opposition party explained, would involve increasing the number of deputies from 90 to 140.

Adalberto Costa Júnior said that achieving these seats in Parliament would allow UNITA to implement some reforms in the country and include more young people in its parliamentary bench.

The UNITA president took the opportunity to urge JURA members to use social media responsibly, taking full advantage of this resource for the benefit of the party and society.

For Adalberto Costa Júnior, being young doesn’t just mean shouting slogans, nor even defending the flag, but rather making a daily commitment to helping transform people in communities for the better.

“Youth is the most beautiful stage of life, marked by energy, creativity, and the ability to transform realities in Africa and, particularly, in Angola,” emphasized the UNITA leader.

The politician emphasized that each young member of his party must be a lever to face and overcome the country’s new challenges.

He recalled that all the major social and political changes that have occurred in the country have always had young people at the forefront.

The first National Conference of UNITA’s youth organization had the theme “The role of youth in the changes Angola needs” and was attended by delegates from all 21 provinces across the country. The meeting discussed topics such as “Women’s empowerment,” “The role and challenges of JURA youth in the 2027 elections,” and “Sharing knowledge on the current state of youth, unity, and cohesion within the party.”
