Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA’s national secretary for communications and marketing, Evaldo Evangelista, said that it was with “great sadness” that the management of “Galo Negro” heard the statements made by the President of the Republic (PR), who accused the main opposition party of the political tension in the country.
And he challenged TPA to invite Adalberto Costa Júnior to react to “accusations that do nothing to help the process of national reconciliation”.
“With this statement, the President of the Republic is saying that he does not want opposition in the country. UNITA is concerned about the social crisis that is reaching alarming proportions in the country. UNITA does not provoke political tension, it only alerts the Executive about the great challenges”, said Evaldo Evangelista, reacting to the PR’s statements to the Angolan Public Television (TPA) on Monday.
In Evaldo Evangelista’s opinion, João Lourenço’s interview did not provide a unifying discourse, because UNITA has been advocating that the Executive find alternatives to overcome the “serious social crisis”, which “forces thousands of Angolans to eat rubbish from containers”.
“The fight against hunger and poverty, access to basic health and education services and the provision of employment for young people are part of the set of political, social and economic challenges that the Government faces. If UNITA warns about this situation, it is not to create political tension in the country”, he added.
Evaldo Evangelista challenges Angolan Public Television, as a body for all Angolans, to also listen to the president of UNITA to react to these accusations that do nothing to help the process of national reconciliation.
The Head of State said on Monday, the 9th, on TPA, that UNITA “should not provoke tension and then, as a remedy, come running to the Palace, talk to the President of the Republic and everything will be resolved”.
“And, the next day, to provoke political tension again. This is not a solution”, stressed the Head of State, referring to the audience granted to UNITA leader Adalberto Costa Júnior, who was recently received at the presidential palace.
