Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of UNITA in Cuanza Sul, Armando Kaquepa, defended, this Monday, in Sumbe, the need for the Executive to increase, to two hundred billion kwanzas, the amount allocated to the province, with a view to guaranteeing the implementation of the portfolio projects.
Within the framework of improving the living conditions of the population of Cuanza Sul, the Angolan Executive has already gone from a budget of 110,516,660,875.00 kwanzas, in the year 2022, to the current Kz 147,195,878,046.00.
Armando Kaquepa, who was speaking at a press conference, considered that the 147,195,878,046.00 kwanzas allocated to the province in the General State Budget (OGE), recently approved by the National Assembly, are insufficient for the successful implementation of the programs, in favor of well-being of populations.
On the occasion, the official also considered the funds allocated to the areas of education (7.73%), health (6.66%) and agriculture (1.92%) to be small, underlining that they are key sectors for social and province’s economy.
“We think that this OGE does not satisfy the needs of the province of Cuanza Sul, since there is a need for construction and rehabilitation of roads, schools, hospitals, among other infrastructures, and, for that, a more robust budget would be necessary” , he stressed.
The province of Cuanza Sul occupies an area of 55,660 square kilometers and has an estimated population of over two million inhabitants, distributed in 12 municipalities and 36 communes.
