Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of UNITA in the province of Huambo, Apolo Felino Yakuvela, defended Saturday, the need to strengthen the democratic rule of law, for the consolidation of peace and national reconciliation.

According to the supporter, who was speaking at the end of the political year of the UNITA Provincial Committee in Huambo, after 21 years of peace and reconciliation between Angolans, “no one should any longer persecute another because of political party affiliation, color, religion or tribe” .

To this end, he appealed to the Angolan Government and political parties with Parliamentary seats to, with concord, promote mutual respect, as stated in the Constitution of the Republic, due to the fact that the regime of a democratic State and the rule of law has already been adopted, which presupposes unity in difference.

The politician said it was necessary for all citizens to respect human rights, avoiding violence and insults to people, as we live in a moment of national reconciliation, in which Angolans need to walk together and hand in hand, each one feeling at home. comfortable and calm.

Apolo Yakuvela explained that the closing of UNITA’s political year takes place at a difficult time for the country, due to the current global economic crisis, in which Angolan families are affected.

In view of this, he asked the Angolan Executive to remember and put into practice the maxim of the first President of the Republic, António Agostinho Neto, that “The most important thing is to solve the people’s problems”, especially at this time of scarcity of financial resources.

In the politician’s opinion, in this phase of economic crisis, the State administration needs to focus on urgent and missing material actions, such as energy and water, health, education and agriculture, to promote production and family self-sustenance .

UNITA, the largest opposition party in Angola, obtained a total of 2,756,786 votes in the last general elections on August 24, 2022 and won 90 deputies in the Angolan Parliament.
