Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of UNITA in Cuando Cubango, Joaquim Salhinho, showed himself Tuesday, in favor of the political-administrative division of the province, as long as it brings benefits to the citizens and the development of the region.
By the way, the politician argues that the political-administrative division of Cuando Cubango should mean bringing services closer to citizens and not the other way around, which is why it is necessary to create structuring infrastructure conditions.
“Unita is not opposed to the political-administrative division, as long as it serves to improve the basic conditions of the population”, he reiterated, for whom the government should invest seriously in the social sectors.
For the UNITA secretary, the process should mean the creation of better conditions for communication routes, which allow peasant families, traders, businessmen and citizens in general to circulate from one side to the other.
Joaquim Savindo said it was necessary for basic social services to be available to citizens, such as drinking water, electricity, basic sanitation, education, medical and medication assistance, and improvements in wastewater pipes.
The province of Cuando Cubango, with its capital Menongue, will be divided into two (Cuando and Cubango), has an area of 199,049 square meters, more than 700 thousand inhabitants distributed in nine municipalities.
