Africa-Press – Angola. The Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Angola, James Story, expressed yesterday in Luanda his country’s pride in cooperating with Angola in supporting democracy and economic growth.
Speaking at the meeting called “US Election Night”, organized by the Embassy in Angola, to discuss the electoral process, the diplomat said that the commitment to democracy in his country extends beyond its borders. James Story pointed out as an example of the partnership with Angola the investment in the Lobito Corridor which “reflects the commitment to prosperity and regional stability”.
Story also highlighted that the excellent relations between the US and Angola resulted in a meeting between US President Joe Biden and his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, in the Oval Office of the White House in November last year and the announcement of Biden’s visit to Angola in December this year.
The diplomat added that the visit by the US President “will be historic” and will be an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable evolution of the relationship between the two countries.
“As partners, the two States have the opportunity to discuss diverse issues, ranging from Human Rights, Labor and Global Health Security, among other topics that lead to the stability of peoples,” he said.
Representatives of political parties participated in the event, including the vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, and leader of the PHA, Bela Malaquias, as well as journalists.
