Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, on Tuesday conveyed his condolences to the Angolan ambassador to that South American country, Fidelino Peliganga, who lives in Buenos Aires, on the physical death of former statesman José Eduardo dos Santos.

“I want you to convey to His Excellency President João Lourenço my deepest feelings of regret”, said the statesman during the ceremony that marked the accreditation of the Angolan diplomat as a non-resident ambassador in that South American country.

During his stay in Montevideo, Fidelino Peliganga held meetings with various entities in Uruguay with which he analyzed the state of cooperation between both countries, taking the opportunity to listen to the resident Angolan community and received in audience the Uruguayan deputy Angelina Manuel Vunge, an Angolan citizen born in the province of Cuanza Sul in 1978.

Angola and Uruguay established political-diplomatic relations on May 26, 1988 and since then have gone through different stages, which have been strengthened through the exchange of high-level visits, in the political-diplomatic context and in South-South cooperation.
