Africa-Press – Angola. The United States of America and Angola reinforced cooperation in the field of maritime security in Rabat, Morocco, with emphasis on naval modernization, information sharing, and capacity development.
The matter was discussed during a meeting between the commanders of the Angolan Navy, Admiral Valentim Alberto António, and the United States Naval Forces in Europe-Africa, Admiral George Wikoff, on the sidelines of the African Maritime Forces Summit 2026.
According to a press release sent, the two entities also addressed strengthening situational awareness in the maritime domain and operational cooperation, with a view to responding to maritime challenges and contributing to regional stability.
The meeting highlighted the importance of developing professional capabilities and sharing experiences between the naval forces of the two countries.
The 2026 African Maritime Forces Summit is co-organized by the United States Naval Forces in Europe and Africa, the United States Marine Corps Forces in Europe and Africa, and the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces.
The event brings together representatives from more than 40 African countries and approximately 20 partner countries, under the motto “Innovation and Partnership to Strengthen Maritime Security.”
The initiative aims to strengthen partnerships and trust among participating countries, as well as promote joint responses to maritime security challenges and the construction of a safer, more stable, and prosperous maritime environment.
