Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of the United States of America (USA) in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, TuliNabo MushiNgi, praised this Wednesday, in Cunene, the performance of the Angolan government in maintaining peace and political stability on the African continent.

Speaking to the press, at the end of the three-day visit to Cunene, he recognized Angola’s efforts to maintain peace and stability in the country over the last 21 years, as well as on the continent, with actions with Mozambique, Rwanda, Central African Republic (CAR) , between others.

For this reason, he highlighted his government’s support for national security, stability and good governance policies, in order to develop strong institutional projects.

“Angola is a priority due to its democratic trajectory, which is why we intend to increasingly strengthen relations between the two countries, supporting the efforts of political parties, civil society and the population in general”, he stated.

The diplomat highlighted that the USA intends to contribute to the fight against corruption, within the scope of good governance policies, as well as promoting government transparency, in order to attract foreign investment.

Tulinabo Mushingi considers that peace and political stability are a priority to attract more foreign investment to the country.

“Our commitment is to promote commercial diplomacy and if Angola continues to improve business conditions, private American companies will be able to bring more investments”, he highlighted.

He said that, within the scope of American private investment, 1.9 billion dollars were invested in the renewable energy project, highlighting that upon completion Angola will have the largest photovoltaic installation in sub-Saharan Africa.

He also highlighted the execution of infrastructures on the so-called Lobito Corridor, in the railway area, with a budget of 250 million dollars, and the construction of 186 points in the 18 provinces.

On the other hand, he highlighted that an investment of 40 million dollars was made in the process of digitizing the signal from Rádio Nacional de Angola, in order to reach 95 percent of the national territory.

On another note, the US ambassador expressed his government’s continued support in promoting policies aimed at strengthening the national health and social services system.

To this end, he said that, this year, his government invested 19 million dollars in the program to prevent, combat and treat malaria, intending to double the amount to 23 million dollars in actions to combat HIV in 2024. /AIDS.

Regarding Covid 19, he highlighted the donation of 11 million doses of vaccines, of which 500 thousand to Cunene, and the financial disbursement of one million dollars.

In the context of humanitarian assistance, he highlighted the investment, over the last 15 months, of 11 million dollars in support for people in vulnerable situations.

However, he said that the visit to Cunene aimed to discuss the projects with the government, civil society and the local population and identify the challenges and opportunities linked to the areas of humanitarian assistance, health, among others linked to American investments in Angolan territory.

Angola and the USA have maintained political and diplomatic relations for 30 years, after the recognition of the Angolan State by the Administration of then President Bill Clinton.
