Africa-Press – Angola. Three artisanal vessels, which transported more than three thousand liters of fuel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were, on Sunday, seized by the Border Guard Police in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province.

According to the spokesperson for the Zaire Provincial Command of the National Police, quartermaster Luís Bernardo, the seized fuel was about to be smuggled into neighboring DRC.

He added that the seizure of considerable quantities of diesel and gasoline is the result of a patrol carried out by border guards in the channel on the island of Luamba, municipality of Soyo.

He reported that the owners of the goods fled when they realized the presence of the corporation’s staff at the scene.

The seized assets were handed over to the General Tax Administration (AGT) in Soyo for legal procedures.
