Africa-Press – Angola. The head of the Provincial Department of Veterinary Services of Huíla and five employees of the aforementioned institution were arrested in flagrante delicto, Friday, in Lubango, in an act of corruption and improper receipt of money.
The accused were detained, following a complaint made by a citizen to the Provincial Delegation of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) in Huíla, who was conditioned to pay 28,000 kwanzas to carry out the slaughter of cattle.
A note from the IGAE reports that, initially, one of the employees, 27 years old, was surprised to receive 14,000 kwanzas, an amount from the complainant, to obtain the license. In the course of the investigation, the official in question denounced the head of the Provincial Department, who allegedly had instructed him to carry out the illegal collection.
The source points out that the collections were not deposited in the Single Treasury Account (CUT), defrauding the State by 19 million kwanzas in the last two years. According to the IGAE, 84,000 kwanzas were found with them, which should have been destined for the CUT, which did not happen.
Senior officials of the institution are involved in the fraudulent “engineering”, who were mentioned by the Head of Department, among them the section heads for the Technical Area and for Financial and Administrative Affairs, as well as two other technicians.
