Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Huambo, Angelino Elavoco, announced, this Monday, the need for law and justice operators to promote citizenship, with more education for citizens in legal matters.
The person in charge was speaking during the 1st Provincial Law Forum, which took place in the auditorium of the “Manuel Rui Monteiro” Cultural Center, in the city of Huambo, in an initiative by Laweventos”, under the theme “The current challenges of Angolan Law”.
Angelino Elavoco said that matters of law and justice are inherent to human society, which requires operators in the sector to pay greater attention to constant updates from citizens.On the occasion, he requested the promotion of debates and critical reflections in communities on relevant topics related to the subject, to allow, above all, the promotion of citizenship and the population’s awareness of legal issues.
The vice-governor praised the initiative of organizing the 1st Provincial Law Forum, as it reflects the concern and interest of the Government in the province of Huambo in keeping citizens, actors of law and justice permanently updated, within the context of the country and not only.
In turn, the Forum’s Scientific Coordinator, Milasto John, said that the event reflected the current paradigms that Angolan Law has demonstrated regarding the reform and administration of Justice.
He highlighted that the event focused on an overview of various areas of law, with specialized professionals, from magistrates, lawyers and university teachers, to aggregate, transform and transmit knowledge of the new trends and challenges in the sector.
During the forum, among other topics, “The role of law in the construction and strengthening of culture and customs in light of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola” and “The challenges of the new administrative law in Angola”, “Contemporary families: new arrangements and legal challenges”.
Topics such as “Challenges regarding the teaching of law in Angola in relation to contemporary law”, “Individual freedoms and the use of social media”, “Mining exploration law as a real right of a new type in light of the Angolan mining code” and “ Anti-corruption compliance”, were also discussed by the participants.
