Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Huambo, Angelino Elavoco, defended, this Friday, the need for an administration closer to the citizen, rigorous, efficient and less expensive, focused on solutions and results.

The person in charge was speaking on behalf of the governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, during the workshop on “Ethics in Public Administration”, aimed at public managers and students, held at the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR), in an initiative of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE).

On the occasion, Angelino Elavoco said that the expected impact of rigorous public administration is that, in the short, medium and long term, it contributes positively to the growth and development of the country, where all citizens are able to fulfill themselves and participate in the process of national transformation.

He mentioned that the relationship between public administration and citizens must always be close, with foundations based on ethics, for the necessary social well-being.

He stressed that it is important to ensure that ethics is not just rhetoric in public debates, but rather, they must be present and reflected in the way society operates on a day-to-day basis.

Angelino Elavoco considered the workshop on “Ethics in Public Administration” to be relevant, as it is current and active, in which public managers must pay greater attention, taking into account the national interest.

He pointed out that those responsible need to reflect on the status of the institutions they manage, the services provided and their quality, as well as acting impartially and impartially, in order to improve the work, taking into account the solutions and results of common well-being.

In turn, the inspector general of State Administration, João Manuel Francisco, recalled that the function of governing aims to serve citizens, in addition to indicating paths for national development.

He stressed that ethics needs to be a culture and way of being in society, with more respect for others and being more supportive, from the perspective of satisfying the population’s basic needs.

Serving the public, declared the inspector general of IGAEI, must be the motto of the administration of the Angolan State, seeking better practical aspects of action, which will be embodied in balance and collective kindness.

He recalled that the role of IGAE involves prevention, warning, dissemination of legislation and the Code of Ethics in the direct and indirect Administration of the Angolan State, in order to achieve the recommended goals.

The workshop was attended by managers from public institutions, members of the Defense, Security and Internal Order bodies, Judicial and Public Prosecutor’s Office magistrates, religious entities and traditional authorities and the academic community.

The IGAE, created on January 17, 1992, is the auxiliary body of the President of the Republic with the mission of carrying out the internal administrative control of the Public Administration.
