Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-Governor of Luanda for the Political and Social Sectors, Manuel Gonçalves, defended the reinforcement of actions that provide equal opportunities to families, in vulnerable situations, in ways to build a fair and supportive society.
“We must be able to take social response measures, in which the national social action system is functional with integrated intervention from different sectors and actors, in order to implement social action policies in the municipalities.”
Manuel Gonçalves, who spoke this Tuesday in Luanda, during the closing of the 3rd Social Action Forum, highlighted the constant search for improvement, innovation and adaptation in resolving situations that afflict fellow citizens.
The official explained that as social actors, our duty is to ensure that the policies and programs drawn up by the Executive are up to the challenges.
To this end, he said it is necessary to develop social action focused on promoting the socioeconomic empowerment of families in vulnerable situations, where they become protagonists of their own development.
Exit recommendations
Participants at the third National Social Action Forum recommended strengthening social work and ADECOS, through social projects, safeguarding issues of corresponding subsidies.
The recommendation expressed in the final document aims to meet some requirements foreseen in the functioning of the national social action system, as well as in the multisectoral and multidisciplinary intervention of social protection.
Participants ask, on the other hand, the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, (MASFAMU) to intensify collaboration with municipalities to promote the expansion of community radios with materials broadcast in the local language, to assist in dissemination and promotion of services.
The inclusion of resource mobilization and the promotion of mechanisms for the institutionalization of the child-value monetary social transfer program, adapting its specific targeting model for children under five years of age, taking into account the consistent results achieved was another issue that appears of the recommendations made.
The meeting also recommended that Municipal Administrations encourage the extension of tax benefits to companies, with the aim of promoting their participation in social protection programs.
With the participation of several national experts, the conference took place under the motto “Let us strengthen the comprehensive intervention of social action, aiming to improve the quality of life of citizens”. The event aimed to present an overview of the activities carried out over the last five years in the field of social protection.
