Vice-governor defends training taxpayers in tax matters

Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor for the Political, Economic and Social sector of Lunda Sul, Mendes Gaspar, defended Friday, in Saurimo, that it is important that taxpayers are trained in tax matters, for a better understanding of the issue, in order to facilitate the taxation process and contribute to the local budget.

Speaking at the opening of the first tax workshop, promoted by the Seventh Tax Region, which is responsible for the provinces of Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Moxico, he highlighted that training also ensures the desired collaboration, based on the principle of mutual understanding, thus facilitating the fulfillment of the activity.

He made it known that the Executive has carried out, through AGT, a wide range of training activities, which aim to provide taxpayers with modern tools to increasingly improve the economic class, in matters linked to tax rigor and discipline.

Mendes Gaspar considered the topics covered at the event to be relevant, as they are of capital importance, as they are linked to transformations in global economic models.

It also means that the knowledge acquired is put into practice to produce satisfactory results, avoiding embarrassment for taxpayers, as well as ensuring a good communication environment to better inform and tax more.

In turn, the Regional Director of the Seventh Tax Region, Paulo João, said that the chosen themes are very relevant, taking into account the findings made in the provinces of Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Moxico, that several taxpayers carry out the activity locally , but are domiciled in other tax regions.

In view of this assessment, AGT has been raising awareness among them, so that they can, on their own initiative, change their tax residence to the location where they carry out their activity.

According to Paulo João, based on the analyzes carried out, it is concluded that these practices generate a tendency to avoid tax, given the volume of business they develop in these locations, but they have still been raising awareness and alerting the need for change of tax residence.

The workshop is being aimed at provincial Finance delegates, AGT technicians from the Eastern region and taxpayers.

The approach includes matters linked to the importance of updating the tax residence, compliance with the tax legal regime for the taxpayer, tax authorities and the State Budget.

Lasting one day, the workshop aims to raise awareness and inform taxpayers on tax matters, as well as bring tax tools to facilitate authorized economic operators from a tax and international tax perspective.
