Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-governor for the Political, Economic and Social Sector of Uíge, Sónia Arlete, highlighted this Thursday, in the capital of the province, the advances in the social, economic and political sectors, achieved during the 22 years of effective peace in the country.
Sónia Arlete Domingos, who was speaking at the provincial celebration of Peace and National Reconciliation Day, highlighted, among the various achievements in the region, the construction, in 2023, of 263 new classrooms, in a total of 49 schools, in the various programs run by the Government, allowing the entry of nine thousand students.
He also highlighted the construction of five schools, with 24 rooms each, in the municipalities of Uíge, Songo, Maquela do Zombo and Quimbele, within the scope of a financing line from Spain.
In recent years, the province of Uíge has seen the construction and rehabilitation of 13 health posts, seven markets, water supply systems, residences for teachers and nurses and more than 200 kilometers of paved roads, in the municipalities of Uíge, Negage and Zombo Maquela.
Regarding advances in the region, Sónia Arlete also highlighted the projects being carried out in the fields of agriculture, health and sport (construction of a new football stadium).
Due to the various achievements achieved, Sónia Arlete appealed to the local population to preserve peace, practice love, justice and forgiveness.
Sónia Arlete Domingos, who was speaking at the provincial celebration of Peace and National Reconciliation Day, said that peace must be preserved every day, with attitudes, gestures and behaviors to maintain it.
He said that peace cost the blood, sweat and tears of many Angolans, hence the need for everyone to commit to maintaining it.
On the occasion, he urged older people to be protagonists in the transmission of values, ethics, civility, love of work and dedication to study.
“We are all called to develop actions that aim to instill the ideals of peace, fraternity, cordiality, justice, unity, reconciliation and a spirit of tolerance, mutual respect and values for the country,” he said.
In turn, the municipal administrator of Uíge, José Raimundo Teca, also asked local inhabitants to preserve peace.
The event was attended by members of the provincial government, political and religious entities, deputies to the National Assembly, defense and security bodies.
