Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, said this Saturday that the Lubango Central Hospital “Dr. António Agostinho Neto” has created the conditions to become a unit with international certification.
Esperança da Costa made this assessment at the end of a visit to the health unit, where, during his 40-minute stay, he toured the areas of oncology, hemodialysis, dermatology, ophthalmology and laboratories, among various hospital facilities.
According to the person in charge, in order to achieve this goal, the Central Hospital is following a pattern based on raising its level of improvement in diagnostic and treatment services, so that it can intervene more and save more lives.
He also referred that the objective to be achieved, according to the hospital’s management, within the scope of improving health services to the population throughout the country, is to make it a reference and a unit with international certification.

He detailed that the hospital is already intervened in a phased manner in the recently approved State Budget.
Esperança da Costa pointed out the need to implement an effective service with all the valences of oncology care, to reduce pressure from the National Oncological Institute, as well as training and improvement of health services, both in Huíla and in in the surrounding provinces looking for the “Agostinho Neto” hospital.

“We left here comforted and satisfied by the levels of intervention in the hospital, the motivation and commitment of the professionals and the management of the unit attentive to the needs of identifying possible solutions to be found for their resolution”, he clarified.
The Central hospital has 418 beds.
Work at the unit is ensured by 669 employees, including doctors, nurses and administrative staff, providing 21 specialties.

The Vice-President of the Republic ended her two month working visit to Huíla, where she chaired the IX Meeting of CPLP Ministers for the Environment, having returned to Luanda earlier this afternoon.
