Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, is already in the city of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, where she will carry out a 48-hour working visit.

At the airport, the Vice-President of the Republic received greetings from the provincial governor, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, members of the Executive who accompanied the visit and the population in general.

In the city of Mbanza Kongo, Esperança da Costa will chair, this Tuesday, the 1st Ordinary Session of the National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of the World Cultural Heritage, this year.

The meeting will analyze the current status of monuments and historic sites in Mbanza Kongo.

The session will also review the proposals for the International Festival of Culture (FESTIKONGO) program and the Commission’s Action Plan for the period 2023, as well as other aspects related to the implementation of UNESCO recommendations on the Management Plan for this city. World Heritage.

Also during her stay in Mbanza Kongo, the Vice-President of the Republic will visit places of interest to the commission and guide the act of reopening the local cultural center Comandante Bula, after benefiting from rehabilitation, expansion and modernization works.

On Wednesday, the second and last day of the visit to Zaire, the Vice-President will travel to Nkiende commune, which is about 32 kilometers from the city of Mbanza Kongo, to check on the progress of works on the new local airport.

Esperança da Costa returns to the country’s capital, Luanda, on Wednesday afternoon.
