Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, arrived in Uíge province for a 48-hour working visit, during which she will chair the 1st Ordinary Session of the National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of World Cultural Heritage.

At Manuel Quarta Punza Airport, Esperança da Costa was received by the local governor, José da Rocha, and other state officials.

The work program includes, among other matters, the review of the proposed implementation report of the World Heritage Committee’s recommendations for Mbanza Congo, on the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage in Environmental Conservation Areas, and an update on the Cultural Heritage of Uíge Province.The agenda also includes the review of the 2025 Festikongo Edition Report and the provision of information on the implementation of the Mbanza Kongo Tourism and Hotel Availability Plan.

A visit by the Vice-President of the Republic to educational and health institutions, among other ongoing projects in the region, is also planned.

The National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of World Cultural Heritage was created under Presidential Decree No. 25/18, of March 5, and updated by Presidential Decree No. 93/23, of May 3.Among its responsibilities are the promotion of conservation programs, participatory management of cultural heritage, and the adoption of special measures to monitor national cultural heritage of exceptional universal value.

Located approximately 345 kilometers from Luanda, the province of Uíge is known for its natural and cultural richness, with several tourist attractions, including the Nzenzo Caves (one of the 7 natural wonders of Angola) and Bombo Falls, located in the municipality of Ambuila, the Serra do Pingano mountain range, situated between Dange-Quitexe and Ambuila, the Cabala Rocks, in the municipality of Negage, the Feitiço Lagoon, in the municipality of Dange-Quitexe, as well as the vast Béu forest reserve, in the municipality of Maquela do Zombo.
