Africa-Press – Angola. The conservation and enhancement of the collection of the National Museum of Anthropology will be in focus today, from 5 pm, in Luanda, with the inauguration, by the Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, of a restoration workshop.

In the act, according to the program of activities, the Vice-President will welcome the guests and give the “final touches” of painting, for the conservation of a painting by the artist António Pimentel Domingues.

The project, an initiative of the Goethe Institut Angola, also includes the delivery of a list of art objects, of Angolan origin, existing in the Ethnological Museum in Berlin.

The list of Angolan objects in the Ethnological Museum of Berlin will be presented by the director of the Ethnological Museum of Berlin, Lars-Christian Koch, in a video message.

The visit to the restoration workshop will be made by the director of the National Museum of Anthropology, Álvaro Jorge, accompanied by the restorer and trainer Thales Vargas Gayean.

Among those invited to the event, the highlights are the directors of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, Cecília Gourgel, and of the Goethe-Institut Angola, Gabriele Stiller-Kern.

With the act, the Goethe Institut Angola announces to Angolan society the project “Conservation at the National Museum of Anthropology”, which includes the training, in the aforementioned museum, of staff, with emphasis on those of the institution, the Dundo Museum, the National Archives and National Heritage Institute.

The project, resulting from funding from the “International Cooperation of Museums”, from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has already included workshops for children and young people at the National Museum of Anthropology.
