The Council of Ministers approved six bilateral instruments, within the framework of Angola’s Foreign Policy, including three relating to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), while the members of the National Security Council reviewed, at their 2nd meeting, matters of interest to the life and functioning of the Defense and Security Bodies, the National Security Law projects and the Organic Statute of the Military Intelligence and Security Service.

The National Security Council meeting also analyzed conflicts in the world and recent coups d’état in Africa.

In the parliamentary chapter, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, reaffirmed the commitment of Angolan deputies to the success of the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP), which the country will host from the 23rd to the 27th of October.

For her part, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to the Swiss Confederation, Filomena Delgado, defended greater intensification of interparliamentary cooperation with Switzerland.

Across borders, the country defended, in New York, United States of America (USA), a more united front and common voice to safeguard the position of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on international issues, such as peace, security, sustainable development and climate change.

According to a press release from the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations (UN), its representative, Francisco da Cruz, reiterated the commitment to work with diligence and a sense of responsibility to face, in a united way, the great present and future challenges that the organization faces.

Francisco da Cruz assumes, since the 26th of this month, the rotating presidency of the SADC countries accredited at the UN and hopes to continue the work developed by his predecessor in the legacy of defending interests and agenda, inspired by the principles and determination of Pan-Africanism and multilateralism.

When speaking at the ceremony marking the 74th anniversary of the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China, the head of the Directorate for Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miguel de Dialamicua, reaffirmed Angola’s support for the principle of a single China, as well as that of non- interference in the internal affairs of other States.

According to the diplomat, Angola is in favor of internationally accepted principles and respect for the territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China.

In turn, the People’s Republic of China expressed its willingness to support Angola’s efforts to play a more prominent and important role in international and regional affairs.

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Angola, Chen Feng, who spoke during the ceremony, held last Tuesday, said that her country appreciates Angola’s active mediation in regional issues.

The Political Personality of the Year award, officially launched this Friday, aims to promote and recognize the performance of public servants at national level, in a social initiative by the agency “Skylight Comunicação e Eventos”, which includes five general categories and a special one.

The winners, in the categories of best provincial governor, municipal administrator, deputy and minister, as well as new politician and political personality of the year, will receive trophies and certificates as a prize.
