Africa-Press – Angola. Eighty-four million, 426,798 kwanzas were collected in the first quarter of the current year, by the Cunene Water and Sanitation Company (EASC), representing an increase of 371,856 kwanzas.
In the same period of 2022, the institution had raised 84 million, 54 thousand and 942 kwanzas.
The information was provided this Friday, by the administrator for the financial area, Verdiana JoseĢ, stressing that the revenues collected result from payment fees for water consumption.
According to the administrator, during the period in question, the company had a turnover of around 111 million, 966 thousand and 196 kwanzas, as a result of the production of 1 million, 240 thousand and 101 cubic meters of water supplied to consumers in the municipalities of Cuanhama, Ombadja and Namacunde.
He said that the company currently controls an accumulated debt of 401 million, 245 and 671 kwanzas, against 334 million, 400 thousand and 857 kwanzas in 2022.
He pointed to the lack of awareness of the regular payment of their fees, negligence and delay in the budget waiver by public institutions, as the reason for the increase in debts.
In this regard, he appealed to consumers to become aware of the regular payment of their fees, with a view to contributing to the company’s growth.
With the non-payment of consumption, according to the person in charge, the company has been severely hampered in the normal functioning of the institution.
The official also pointed out the waste of 559 thousand and 458 cubic meters of water, derived from some ruptures, with losses of 88 million, 394 thousand and 395 kwanzas.
In terms of prospects, he highlighted the balance between invoicing and collection, the reduction of commercial and technical losses, and the intensification of social mobilization campaigns, in order to revert the current framework of service sharing.
EASC has under its control 10 thousand and 182 customers, the result of 13 thousand and 566 connections made. Of this number, Eight thousand and 220 meters were installed and 1,853 direct connections made.
