Africa-Press – Angola. The works on the new Uíge football stadium, under construction since April 2023, in the province’s main municipality, are 45 percent physically complete.
Expected to be completed in the next two years, the sports infrastructure will have the capacity to accommodate ten thousand spectators.
Budgeted at more than 38 million US dollars, the new Uíge football stadium will have UEFA classification, category IV for football, and category 3 from the International Athletics Federation (IAAF).
Currently, construction work is underway on rainwater and wastewater networks, communication routes and other services.
It is planned to build a grass field, which will feature a high-performance athletics track and tartan flooring.
The sports equipment will have two three-story side benches, coverage of the VIP tribune and boxes, four changing rooms for athletes and referees, medical emergency rooms, anti-doping control rooms, press area, bar and other compartments.
With only one team competing in the current edition of the National First Division Football Championship “Girabola”, the province of Uíge only has the 4 de Janeiro stadium, built in the colonial era.
