The provincial deputy governor for the technical sector and infrastructure, Edson da Cruz, said that the lack of investment has been the main constraint on water supply in the province.

For this reason, he underlined that the trip of the Secretary of State to Bengo allowed finding ways to solve the water supply to the city of Caxito and surroundings.

According to the official, the city of Caxito needs to modernize the Mabubas catchment system and increase its capacity due to the population growth that is taking place.

He underlined that the provincial government is working to cover the areas without water, stressing that the second phase of integrated infrastructure in Caxito includes most of the city’s neighbourhoods, with the exception of Sassa Povoação.

In Bengo province, customer debt over the last five years is estimated at more than 170 million kwanzas.
