Africa-Press – Angola. Seventy-seven percent is the level of physical execution of the works of the photovoltaic park, located in the Conduril neighborhood, in Saurimo (Lunda Sul), said this Thursday, the deputy director for projects of the Public Production Company of Electricity (PRODEL), Gaspar João.
The park, after completion of the works, will have the capacity to produce 26.9 megawatts of clean electricity, with 8,733 transmission lines, to serve 49,000 citizens.
The project is being built in an area of 65 hectares, with a total of 44 thousand 850 panels, budgeted at 38 million and 839 thousand and 673 euros, whose works started in 2021, with an execution period of 28 months.
Speaking during the visit of young people, in the company of the provincial governor of Lunda Sul, Daniel Neto, as part of the proximity and inclusive governance of his mandate, the official made it known that the park is made up of five blocks, with 78 panels each, with a 90 percent local workforce.
He explained that the aforementioned clean energy project will reduce 62 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year and will interconnect the existing power plants in Saurimo (Txicumina and Nhama) with more than 140 concrete poles, in order to have better benefit in production.
Gaspar João added that the park’s conditioning pole is already equipped to receive the national line and the Nhama line, whose work will start on Friday (12).
Works on the university campus of Lunda Sul
The works on the University Campus of Lunda Sul, whose physical execution level is around 11 percent and financial 13 percent, began in 2021, with completion scheduled for 2024, and is being financed by the diamond sales company “SODIAM” under the its social responsibility.
Budgeted at US$40 million, the project is being built in an area of 12 thousand square meters, in the Luari neighborhood, and will accommodate 2,350 students in different courses, such as history, pedagogy, nursing, metallurgy, civil engineering, geography, administration and management and electricity.
On the occasion, the works supervisor, Benvindo Kaesse, made it known that currently only foundation work was carried out to build the infrastructures, as well as the street layout, due to the constant rains that fell in the district, contributing to the delay of the works.
During the visit, led by the provincial governor of Lunda sul, Daniel Neto, the more than 100 young people from the different youth organizations also learned about the works on the University Campus and the Centrality of Saurimo, where they received information that it will be delivered in December of the current year.
This is the young people’s first tour of ongoing projects in the province of Lunda Sul, led by the governor, Daniel Neto.
