Africa-Press – Angola. The minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, carried out, Friday, a working day in the province of Benguela, with the aim of evaluating the level of execution of the works of the solar park that are being developed in that province.
Accompanied by a delegation from that ministerial department, by the deputy governor of Benguela for the Technical and Infrastructure Area, Adilson Delaine, the official visited the Biópio solar project.
This important project was launched on March 11, 2021 and is expected to end in May 2023. With an estimated power of 188.8 MWdc, it has a physical execution of around 54.81%.
Located in the commune of Biópio, it guarantees, at this stage, more than 1000 jobs and, with the completion of the works, plans to guarantee the supply of electricity to more than one million people.
Another strategic undertaking that was the subject of evaluation by the minister was the Baía Farta project, also launched on March 11, 2021, with its completion scheduled for June 2022.
This important work foresees a power of 96.7 MWdc and currently has a physical execution of around 75.42%. Located in the municipality of Baía Farta, the project will be able to guarantee the supply of energy to more than 500 thousand people, and it currently employs more than 130 professionals.
These two projects are part of a program of seven photovoltaic solar plants to be built in six provinces of the country, which together total one million solar panels capable of generating clean and sustainable energy of 370 MW (MWp) and guaranteeing regular supply to more than two million people.
