As part of international efforts this week to highlight and counter growing food insecurity globally, the World Bank announced actions it plans to take as part of a comprehensive, global response to the crisis. This includes up to 30 billion dollars in existing and new projects in areas such as agriculture, social protection, water and irrigation. The Bank says this financing will include efforts encouraging food and fertilizer production, enhancing food systems, facilitating greater trade and support for vulnerable households and producers.
