Africa-Press – Angola. Several youth organizations in Moxico province started, this Sunday, to inspect the public projects that are being implemented by the government in the border town of Luau, in an action promoted by the National Spontaneous Movement (MNE).

The aforementioned inspection activity, which brings together university students, political and religious movements, will be extended to other municipalities in the province, according to the organisation.

According to the provincial secretary of the Moxico Spontaneous Movement, Luís Kodack, this X-ray aims to measure, up close, the impact of the social projects implemented in these regions, on the life of the population.

The municipality of Luau has 10 social projects in the portfolio of the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), which has already allowed for the rehabilitation and equipping of a playground, school establishments, construction of 10 residences for staff, interventions in ravines and water

Currently, the major project in the region is the construction of the Municipal Hospital, which has been rehabilitated and expanded to 108 beds, whose works are in the final phase.

On board of a so-called “patriotic” train, the more than 100 excursionists, he said, will also promote actions to reinforce patriotism among the population of these regions, for the protection of public goods, with a view to the development of the country.

During the three days, under the motto “Angolan Youth United for Progress”, academic activities, motorbike tournament, football match, community bonfire, among others, are planned in Luau district.

The municipality of Luau, 334 kilometers east of the city of Luena, with a population of over 117,000, according to projections by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), has attracted several tourists from the country.

The region, which has 117,000 inhabitants, also stands out for being connected to the coast and to several cities in the center of the country by the Benguela Railway (CFB), constituting the “Corredor do Lobito” , housing the last station of the Benguela Railway (CFB), in addition to having an international airport, General Sapilinha Sambalanga, opened in 2015.
