Africa-Press – Angola. Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Angola, Thando Madzvamuse, expressed, this Thursday, his country’s interest in cooperating with the Provincial Government of Uíge, in the fields of agriculture, tourism and mines.

The diplomat expressed this intention in the meeting he held with the deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Uíge, Sónia Arlete Domingos, as part of a two-day working visit to this region of the country.

He said he was satisfied with the advances made in the area of ​​agriculture in this region, for this reason, he added that the exchange of experiences would be important.

He added that, in addition to agriculture, other areas of interest will be explored, with emphasis on the mining and tourism sectors, bets that will allow Zimbabwean businesspeople to invest in this province.

He considered investing in tourism to be essential, justifying that it allows the collection of revenue and the creation of jobs for young people.

“There are many areas in which the brotherly country can cooperate without looking for help outside our continent”, he added.

In turn, the deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Uíge, Sónia Arlete Domingos, stated that the province is open to forming partnerships with the Republic of Zimbabwe, in the areas of agriculture, tourism and mines.

He recognized that Zimbabwe has potential in the fields of agricultural research, food, mines and other important areas that can serve for cooperation with the local provincial government.

During the meeting, Sónia Arlete Domingos presented the projects underway in the province, in the areas of agriculture, mines, tourism and supply of electricity to localities in the interior of the province.

Relations between Angola and Zimbabwe have lasted since the National Liberation Struggle of both countries.

Also today (Thursday), ambassador Thando Madvamuse, who was accompanied by senior officials from the Zimbabwe embassy in Angola, visited the coffee experimental station and several agricultural projects based in the province’s main municipality.

About the province of Uíge

With more than one million inhabitants, the province of Uíge has 16 municipalities, namely Ambuila, Bembe, Buengas, Bungo, Damba, Alto Cauale, Maquela do Zombo, Milunga, Mucaba, Negage, Puri, Quimbele, Quitexe, Sanza Pombo, Songo and Uíge.

Agriculture and commerce are the main sectors in Uíge, which was once considered the Angolan coffee capital.

Uíge’s climate is hot, which is why it is suitable for growing coffee, cassava, oil palm, peanuts, sweet potatoes, beans, cocoa, sisal and others on a smaller scale.

The province of Uíge has a total of 200 registered tourist attractions, with emphasis on the Nzenzu and Cabala caves, Tedi Tedi lagoon, Luchide river falls, Lagoa do Feitiço, among other tourist sites that require investment.
