Africa-Press – Botswana. Mosha Wellness Spa hosted a handover ceremony for the Khwai Village Library, marking a major milestone in community education development. The library was officially handed over at Khwai Primary School on 16 January 2026. The initiative delivered 2,835 books, stationery packs, backpacks and essential classroom supplies to support learners and teachers. This project reflects a strong public and private sector partnership focused on improving literacy and academic performance in rural Botswana. The handover event brought together corporate sponsors, development partners and community leaders committed to long term educational impact.School supplies

Key partners included First Capital Bank Botswana, African Bush Camps Foundation, Macmillan Botswana, Lilly White and the Embassy of Japan in Botswana. Speaking at the event, Thatayaone Matlapeng of First Capital Bank highlighted the bank’s P50,000 contribution, which funded the conversion of a shipping container into a fully functional library space. The upgraded facility now provides a structured and safe environment for reading, studying and research. The transformation ensures learners have direct access to quality reading materials within their school premises. This investment strengthens infrastructure while creating equal learning opportunities for children in Khwai.

Further commitments were announced during the ceremony to expand support beyond books. Manie Ernst of Lilly White introduced a baby essentials drive aimed at assisting local families with basic needs. Koinonia Baloyi of African Bush Camps Foundation revealed plans to establish a computer lab at the school and appealed for support for the school feeding programme. These interventions aim to address both educational and social challenges that affect learner performance. Access to technology and consistent nutrition are expected to improve concentration, attendance and overall academic outcomes.Bookshelves

Kesego Nthomiwa of Macmillan Botswana emphasised the critical role books play in strengthening literacy and comprehension skills. She confirmed a new teacher training initiative designed to equip educators with updated teaching strategies and resource management skills. Macmillan Botswana also donated 1,434 books along with additional classroom supplies to reinforce curriculum delivery. Mosha Wellness Spa Director Lezanda Kubie noted visible improvements in learner engagement, school attendance and academic performance since the initiative began. Partners have committed to annual book drives, sustained support for the feeding programme and the expansion of educational projects to ensure long term benefits for the Khwai community.
