Africa-Press – Botswana. The Albert Milton Foundation (AMF) in collaboration with Komatsu Botswana is set to build a new assembly area for Marulamantsi Primary School in Gaborone.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony recently, Ms Albertinah Milton founder of the non-profit organisation Albert Milton Foundation, said that after engaging with the school management they discovered that its biggest challenge was the lack of a proper assembly area.

“What the school currently has is an open-plan assembly space, which comes with many downsides. Bad weather conditions often prevent learners from assembling. And without a multipurpose hall, they are also unable to fully experience cultural activities or prize-giving ceremonies,” said Ms Milton in an interview.

She added that the new structure would provide shelter and shade, enhancing the pupils’ overall experience. Ms Milton also emphasised that AMF wanted to donate something sustainable that future generations could benefit from, a vital hub for educational, sporting and cultural gatherings.

Marulamantsi school head, Ms Mumsy Utlwang, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, particularly as the school was only recently established, having begun operations last year.

“We have always relied on hiring tents for school events, which was very costly. This assembly area will help reduce expenses for both the school and parents, who often contribute towards event costs,” she said.
