Africa-Press – Botswana. Barcelona will play at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in 2023/24, due to renovation works at the Camp Nou, the Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola reported in this Tuesday’s online edition.
The move to the venue in Montjuic, which was built in 1927 and renovated in 1989 to host the Barcelona’1992 Olympic Games, will cost between 15 and 20 million euros, announced yesterday, Joan Laporta, president of the Catalans, in a joint presentation with Barcelona City Council: “We estimate that the move to Montjuic (Olympic Stadium) will cost between 15 and 20 million.
The renovation works at Camp Nou have already started, revealed Laporta: “The renovation works have already started, but next season it will still be possible to host games at Camp Nou with all the necessary conditions. In 2023/24, we will even have to temporarily abandon the our home”.
It should be remembered that the Espai Barça project foresees the remodeling of the Camp Nou, as well as a new Palau Blaugrana, for the club’s modalities, and an urban reorganization in this area of the city.
