Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) has handed over its 13th smart classroom to Ditladi Primary School in the North East Region. The initiative is part of the authority’s ongoing effort to enhance e-learning and digital education across the country.
BOCRA, established in 2013 to regulate Botswana’s communications sector, partnered with the Ministry of Communications and Innovation to deliver the digital classroom. Minister David Tshere officially handed over the facility to the school. The project aligns with government priorities to provide learners with modern digital learning environments.
Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary for Basic Education, Labane Mokgosi, spoke on behalf of the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education. He expressed gratitude to BOCRA, describing the smart classroom as a valuable learning resource center. “This facility will make learning much easier for students and supports our vision of producing globally competitive learners,” he said.
Mr. Mokgosi also urged parents to take an active role in safeguarding the digital hub. He emphasized that proper care would ensure its long-term benefit for both current and future learners.
The handover of the 13th smart classroom reflects Botswana’s commitment to integrating technology into education. The initiative is expected to improve learning outcomes, increase digital literacy, and prepare students for a competitive global environment.
