Africa-Press – Botswana. The Director of Alliance Francaise Ms Angelique Saverino has emphasised the collaboration between Bonjour Botswana and local schools to facilitate French examinations.

She said this when Bonjour Botswana held its third French Certificate Award Ceremony in Francistown on Saturday.

The awards were to celebrate the achievements of 42 students from various schools who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication in their pursuit of the French language.

She noted that the certificates awarded to the successful learners were valid for a lifetime and recognised internationally, providing significant advantages for students wishing to further their studies abroad.

Ms Saverino praised Bonjour Botswana for their contributions in making French language learning engaging and accessible through educational materials.

She also expressed her appreciation for the cooperation of learners, teachers, and parents, which has been vital in achieving the positive outcomes.

Acting Mayor of Francistown, Mr Thapelo Mosenya, highlighted that learning French extended beyond language acquisition, it fostered intercultural understanding and served as a bridge that connected diverse cultures.

He acknowledged the perseverance and dedication of the learners, which led to their successful attainment of recognised French language certificates.

Mr Mosenya encouraged the students to continue their French studies, emphasising its importance for their future endeavours.

He commended Bonjour Botswana for their initiatives in schools, including organising Spelling Bee competitions and sponsoring students for international French exams.

Furthermore, Mr Mosenya expressed gratitude for Bonjour Botswana’s commitment to preparing a French syllabus, which they would give it free of charge to any school teaching the French language, ensuring adherence to international standards.

Mr Namujanda Jackson, Director of Bonjour Botswana, said that a total of 42 students from Francistown and surrounding areas received certificates issued by the French Ministry of Education, which are recognised globally.

He stated that the award ceremony not only acknowledged the students’ hard work but also celebrated their achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their language studies.
