Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana Organisation for Sisters Empowering Junior Associates (BOSEJA) will hold a nationwide campaign to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene and provide support to distinguished junior schools in commemoration of the Menstrual Hygiene Day set for May 28.
A statement from the organisation says, BOSEJA will support 10 junior schools with sanitary products, ensuring that young girls have access to essential hygiene supplies “BOSEJA executive director, Ms Tumelo Tsele calls upon individuals, corporates and the business community to forge-ties in support of this noble course by donating sanitary products toward the initiative.
She emphasized the importance of addressing menstrual hygiene issues and ensuring that no girl misses out on education as a result of lack of access to sanitary products,” says the statement.
It singled out Engine Botswana as a key stakeholder and number one fuel partner on the road trip, adding that the company contributed P5 000 worth of sanitary pads, furthering their mission to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young girls across the country.
The commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day will take place at Mathangwane Junior School, where the organisation has prepared various activities and engagements aimed at promoting menstrual health, breaking associated stigma and deliver essential supplies to the girl-child.
BOSEJA is a non-profit making organisation dedicated to supporting girls’ rights to equal education and opportunities, education in reproductive health rights, menstrual management, and sanitary products donations.
It is committed to empowering young girls and women in Botswana by addressing education, health, and social well-being issues. Through various initiatives and programmes, the organisation strives to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
