The Government of Botswana has entered into a landmark partnership with four global investment firms Thirty-Five Global Links, Mercuria Asia Holdings, Ulsan Holdings, and Innovation Global Industries to enhance national energy security and modernize the country’s infrastructure. The agreement represents a major step toward achieving Botswana’s long-term development goals under Vision 2036.
The partnership aims to attract large-scale foreign investment into Botswana’s energy and infrastructure sectors. It will focus on expanding energy generation capacity, improving distribution networks, and introducing clean and renewable energy solutions. The initiative also seeks to create new employment opportunities while driving sustainable economic growth.
Officials from the Ministry of Minerals and Energy stated that the collaboration will help reduce Botswana’s dependence on imported energy and strengthen its resilience against global supply disruptions. They noted that the investment will support both short-term stability and long-term diversification of the national energy mix.
Thirty-Five Global Links, known for its experience in international energy and infrastructure financing, will lead the consortium’s investment coordination. Mercuria Asia Holdings will contribute expertise in global energy trading and resource management. Ulsan Holdings will oversee industrial and engineering operations, while Innovation Global Industries will focus on technology transfer and project implementation.
Government representatives emphasized that the partnership aligns with Botswana’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation. The agreement includes provisions for technology sharing, local workforce training, and capacity building across key sectors.
Energy analysts have welcomed the partnership, saying it could accelerate Botswana’s transition toward cleaner and more reliable energy sources. They also noted that strengthening infrastructure will help attract more industries and investors to the country, supporting regional competitiveness.
