Did Kindiki drum up support for Raila’s AUC bid?
On his first trip as Kenya’s deputy president, Kithure Kindiki assumed a diplomatic role, advocating for Raila in Botswana.
In a statement on his X platform, Kithure Kindiki said that while representing President William Ruto at Duma Boko’s inauguration as Botswana’s new president, he conveyed Kenya’s request for support of Raila’s AUC bid.
“I presented to President Duma Boko, Kenya’s request to support the candidature of Hon. Raila Odinga to chair the African Union Commission (AUC),” Kindiki’s statement read in part.
Kindiki added that he held bilateral talks with President Boko, focusing on cooperation in climate change, tourism, coffee and tea trade, beef farming, horticulture and floriculture development, mining, cooperative management, and regional peace, security, and stability.
