Botswana Welcomes Trans-Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign

Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana has welcomed the Trans-Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign, a Pan-African road initiative promoting visa-free travel and regional integration. The delegation, led by Ghana’s former Member of Parliament Ras Mubarak, is on a 163-day journey covering 40,000 kilometers across 39 countries. Botswana marks the 11th stop on this ambitious tour.

Minister for State President Moeti Mohwasa, who received the delegation on behalf of President Advocate Duma Boko, praised the initiative as a step toward strengthening Africa’s shared future. He highlighted the campaign as a symbol of what African nations can achieve when they work together to break barriers and promote unity. “Your journey is a demonstration of what is possible when Africans come together to break down borders and promote a visa-free Africa,” Mohwasa said.

Mubarak applauded Botswana for its leadership in tourism and wildlife conservation. He emphasized that Botswana’s approach to sustainable tourism serves as a model for other nations. “A connected Africa is a stronger Africa,” he said, stressing the need for collaboration in building an integrated continent.

The delegation’s road trip seeks to inspire governments and citizens to embrace policies that simplify cross-border movement, enhance trade, and boost cultural exchange. The team has already visited several Southern African nations and continues to draw attention to the economic and social benefits of regional integration.

During their stay in Botswana, which runs until October 1, the group is expected to meet with tourism stakeholders, engage with communities, and showcase the potential of free movement across the continent. From Botswana, they will continue their continental tour, aiming to cover the remaining 28 countries before completing the 163-day expedition.

The Trans-Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign reflects growing calls for deeper Pan-African cooperation, with Botswana’s warm reception underscoring its commitment to the vision of a borderless Africa.
