Africa-Press – Botswana. Police in Francistown have recorded low to zero incidents of crime during the Easter holidays.

Kutlwano police station commander, Superintendent Alice Oabile said in an interview with BOPA that save for seven minor accidents, her policing area did not have serious incidents of crime throughout the holidays.

“We only recorded minor assaults, stealing of laptops, cell phones and car batteries,” she relayed, attributing the low crime levels to police visibility and the fact that the majority of the city dwellers had travelled outside the city.

Acting Central Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Douglas Khumalo echoed Supt Oabile’s words, saying his policing area also had a quiet holiday, something he ascribed to decongestion in the city.

Supt Kedibonye Kula of Gerald police, who police Shashemooke, Tati-Siding, shared fellow officers’ sentiments, adding that police visibility and joint patrols with other law enforcement agencies contributed handsomely to low crime levels.
