Africa-Press – Botswana. Police here say they are yet to locate the mother or relatives of a baby girl suspected to be between two to three years whose body was discovered at the Francistown Bus Rank over two months back.
Francistown Central Police station commander, Lebalang Maniki, told The Monitor that the body of the little girl is still at the mortuary, because they have not been able to identify the toddler’s family.
He explained that they will ultimately be forced to take a decision to bury the body, if they are not able to find her relatives. Maniki added that at the moment there is no trace of the unidentified baby’s family, and appealed to members of the public to assist with information that could help the police in their investigations.
The toddler was discovered by police officers who were on patrol on November 10, 2021. The toddler’s lifeless body was found wrapped in a black plastic bag. Inside the plastic bag, the body was further wrapped with a pink towel, light green fitted sheet and a peach blanket. She was wearing a pink sweater written “BE KIND”, grey tracksuit bottom, a pink vest and white sandals written SPORT NUIXINGADO.
