Formula 1: Hamilton intends to continue for many more years

Africa-Press – Botswana. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton said on Thursday that he is not planning on retiring from Formula 1 anytime soon. The British driver, who signed a two-year contract with Mercedes last year, will remain with the German team until the end of 2023 at least.

Aside from the preview of the Japanese GP, which will take place this Sunday, Hamilton said that he intends to continue on the tracks beyond that date.

“I plan on staying longer. I just don’t know how long,” Hamilton said at the Suzuka circuit.

Speaking to Channel 3, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said Hamilton, who turned 38 in January, could continue for another five years.

Hamilton said he had not spoken to Wolff about this comment, but that it was a possibility. “I feel good here,” said the Briton, who made his Formula 1 debut in 2007 with McLaren before moving to Mercedes at the end of 2012.
