Africa-Press – Botswana. Dibete police officers manning a roadblock on entry to the village recently arrested four men who were in possession of stolen copper cables.

The four suspects aged 18, 30, 36 and 37 respectively were found in possession of copper cables that measured about five metres long in their car. They were heading toward the southern part of the country.

Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku said they suspect that the quartet might have stolen the cable from a Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) tower hence still investigating where it might be.

“The quartet was also found in possession of two bolt cutting machines, a hack saw machine and a knife inside their car,” he said.

“There are reports that copper cables were recently stolen from a BPC tower somewhere in Shoshong village. We are yet to establish where it was stolen.”
