Africa-Press – Botswana. Jay Shah became the first-ever ICC Chairman to visit Botswana, following his attendance at the ICC’s recent meetings in Zimbabwe. The former BCCI secretary was in Botswana from April 14 to 16, where he discussed matters concerning the Associate Members.

According to Cricbuzz, Shah was accompanied by ‘Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) chairman Dr. Tavengwa Mukuhlani and a few ICC officials.’

“I am personally very grateful to Mr. Shah for making the visit, in spite of his busy schedule. His brief presence at the BCA Ovals, where he met with the national coach, staff, few players, and some of the affiliates, has left a positive indelible mark in their minds, ” said Sumod Damodar, vice-chairman of BCA, reported Cricbuzz.

“Many discussions that ensued during the visit revolved around the importance of identifying avenues to improving cricket, especially Associate Members (AM). I was fortunate to find opportune moments to discuss pertinent and very relevant matters pertaining to AMs, in relation to Africa and globally.” Damodar added.

The same publication also reported that Shah had “meetings with Sports Minister Jacob Kelebeng, members of the Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC), the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC), and the Deputy Permanent Secretary & Director of Sports at MoSA.”
