Africa-Press – Botswana. Kgosi Malope II of Bangwaketse has been elected as the 5th Ntlo ya Dikgosi chairperson. Kgosi Malope was nominated alongside Kgosi Puso of Batlokwa and Kgosi Kgari Sechele III.
He received 20 votes, while Kgosi Puso managed to garner nine votes and Kgosi Kgari III three votes.
Kgosi Mbao Kahiko of Ghanzi West region was elected deputy chairperson.
He was nominated alongside Kgosi Lotlamoreng II of Barolong and Kgosi Tshipe Tshipe of Mahalapye region, they got 23, five and four votes respectively.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the 5th Ntlo ya Dikgosi sworn-in 32 out of 34 members to represent various tribes across Botswana.
This follows the dissolution of the 4th Ntlo ya Dikgosi, which marked the end of their office tenure.
The tenure of office for the new members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi will run for two and half years.
New comers include Kgosi Khama IV of Bangwato and new three women Kgosi Bome Gobuamang, Basadi Seipone and Isabella Tshipana joined Kgosi Mosadi Seboko of Gamalete to have four women in Ntlo ya Dikgosi.
