Africa-Press – Botswana. The Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) and the Ministry of Lands and Water Affairs have signed a cooperation agreement for planning and management of water, land and sanitation for knowledge-based decision making to attain sustainable use of resources.
The agreement, signed on Thursday, is a mutual commitment by the two towards complementing each other’s functions in the application and use of technologies in land, water and sanitation management and planning.
It was signed by the Vice Chancellor for BUAN, Prof. Kethatlogile Mosepele and permanent secretary at the Ministry of Lands and Water Affairs, Dr Kekgonne Baipoledi.
Outlining the objective of the MoU, director of Water Affairs and Sanitation, Mr Nchidzi Mmolawa said it was to strengthen capabilities of the participants through collaborative projects, research, education and development of programmes for management and planning of water, land and sanitation resources.
He said the agreement also covered provision of expanded and improved opportunities for staff involved in the field of water, land and sanitation sectors through training and exchange programmes.
Prof. Mosepele said implementation of the agreement would help in the technology needed to enable them to find new strategies to manage and control water sanitation and land use.
He said the three-year agreement would be renewed to achieve more milestones and objectives.
