The Botswana National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Sport and Arts and the Botswana National Sports Commission handed over a new three bedroom house to Olympic gold medalist Letsile Tebogo. The ceremony took place in Kgale View in Gaborone.

The house sits on a 562 m2 plot in Sesha Mews. It stands as a direct reward for Tebogo’s performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics. He became the first athlete from Botswana and Africa to win an Olympic gold medal in the 200 m race. The achievement set a new standard for athletics in the region.

Time Projects Company built the house within six months. The project reflects the country’s commitment to invest in its athletes. It also shows the importance of recognizing individuals who bring pride to the nation through sport.

The Minister of Sport and Arts, Hon. Jacob Kelebeng, handed over the keys. His presence signaled strong government support for Tebogo and other athletes with similar potential. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ms. Neo Chengeta, attended the event with senior officials from BNSC, BNOC and BAA.

Tebogo expressed deep gratitude. He described the house as a dream come true. He said the gesture shows what young athletes can achieve when the nation invests in their growth. His message focused on opportunity, discipline and national support.

The handover marked a major moment for Botswana sport. It celebrated a young athlete who reached a global milestone. It also showed a unified commitment to building an environment where athletes can excel.
