Africa-Press – Botswana. Township Rollers continued their dominance over Extension Gunners by walloping them 3-1 in an FNB Premiership encounter played at Lobatse Sports Complex.
Two goals in the first half from Mogakolodi Ngele and Segolame Boy and a long range screamer from Lefa Leballo in the dying minutes of the match ensured that Rollers climbed to the top of the log standings and stamped their authority over Extension Gunners.
Rollers dominated the first half and capitalised on the half chances they got while Gunners dictated matters in the second half, but failed to utilise an array of opportunities they got. Gunners have themselves to blame as they were too casual in the first half, defending deep and giving Rollers an upper hand as they kept on pressing high.
Rollers efforts were rewarded when Ngele unleashed a powerful shot just outside the area in the 32nd minute, which deflected off a Gunners defender, and extended the lead midway through the first half. Boy also found himself unmarked on the 45th minute and easily converted.
After the break, the hosts came out determined and dictated terms with good carpet football, and they eventually scored through Ogomoditswe Sitang in the 60th minute. The goal gave Gunners a ray of hope that they could come back into the game, but they failed to punish Rollers who were at the time on panic mode.
However, it was not to be as Leballo put the last nail on Gunners’ coffin with a powerful volley outside the area in stoppage time to ensure his team collected maximum points.
The result now means that out of the six games the two teams have played in the recent past, Rollers have won five and the other one ended in a draw. Though Segolame Boy is not an outright striker, he has managed to score in all the games between the two teams since he joined Rollers.
